Alexandra and Ainsworth Estate

http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_luvsl9VTYe1qe1vgco1_500.jpg
Designed by Neave Brown in 1972 and built
in 1978, this housing estate has many things
in common with Barbican:
  • seclusion from the street
  • underground parking
  • concrete cast monolithic structure
  • quiet and green outdoors areas
On the whole being there feels a lot like being
in Barbican: relaxed and quiet but a bit spooky.

You really get the feeling of being out of the city, even though there is a major street right next to the place. This, of course, gives the feeling of enclosure and distance from loud and

busy areas that are only a few steps away.

Since 1993 the building has a Grade II Listed
status..
